I am a third generation designer and furniture maker, continuing nearly a century of furniture making in the family, but in the modern style. My grandfather loved making period and contemporary furniture, whereas my father preferred designing and later went into the film business to design sets for the early James Bond movies and “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” amongst others. FIRST GEAR.. Initially, I began my woodworking career teaching in a high school in London and naturally designing and making in my spare time. |

Gradually, more people started to buy my work to the point where, in spite of rising to head of department, I left full-time teaching to start my own business. U.K. - U.S.A. - FRANCE - SPAIN.. For the next ten years I worked on my own but also was sought out to train apprentices. This I enjoyed immensely and after a while was asked to lecture part- time on a furniture-making course at Bridgwater College, as teaching was still a fundamental part of my life. A further step up in my career came when I teamed up with David Savage, another beacon of timeless and sophisticated design. For nearly 5 years we produced magnificent furniture together as well as training students in the fine art of furniture making. One product of this experience was that I was invited to teach a master class in the U.S.A., conveying the British method of making to an appreciative audience. A surprising bonus came when I made contact with a company to mass- produce one of my own chair designs. It was this that made me want to start working on my own designs once again. This meant farewell to David, so picking up my tools and bags, I drove south to Seville, southwest Spain; well - you would, wouldn’t you? OLE! Brimming with new ideas and plans for my own teaching courses, I spent a brief sojourn in southern France as technical advisor on a large private project then set up shop here in the land of bullfighting and flamenco; teaching, designing and making for clients wherever they may be.
